Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of being invited to view the grounds of a new North Devon wedding venue. The Millbrook Estate is owned and run by Bob and Kate Boothby, who recently celebrated their own wedding within the beautiful grounds and are now offering it up to other couples who wish to enjoy an intimate wedding in the heart of the North Devon countryside.
Set within a beautiful 23 acre estate, 25-40 guests can witness your marriage ceremony in a pretty Summer House, which features large reclaimed windows and a beautiful open, brick fireplace. Or, for outside weddings, parties can also be seated on the lovely decked area – which has been kitted out with speakers for handy ipod docking (Kate tested the system for me and it was sooo cool, the quality of sound would easily compete with a live band!) and the consertina doors of the Summer House can then be stacked back…
The grounds of the Millbrook Estate really caught my imagination. Rich, lush and impactful, the view are breathtaking. There’s a quaint pond, that could be quirkily decorated to match your wedding style and a gorgeous stretch of woodland, perfect for your wedding photo’s! A stonesthrow away lies the lake and jutty, which could play host to some really alternative ideas…rubber ducky racing anyone?!
One of the stand-out qualities of the Millbrook Estate, aside from it’s awe-inspiring surroundings, was the ethos of owners Kate and Bob, who are utterly passionate about re-useing, up-cycling and keeping things seasonal and local. Everything they do is with such thought – and you know that if two people are inherently that passionate about what their doing…your wedding’s sure to be in safe hands.
