Flowers, Cake, Shoes…And Some Stunning Pictures!

When I spotted this stunning shoot on South Devon photographer Sarah Laurens blog, I felt compelled to find out more about the talented ladies who made it happen and was so pleased when Sarah offered me the images to feature on Boho Bride. So what’s the part of writing my blog that I love the most? Sharing inspiration like this…

What Sarah had to say: “Laura Hingston asked me to photograph her flowers for her new website and here are the results.  She has an amazing talent and I recommend her to all the brides I meet – not just for her creative flair but for her way with words too – her enthusiasm is infectious. I also met Nicki of Eat Sleep Cake at a wedding fair last year and she also happens to know Laura (it’s a small world in Devon!)…I organized the shoot at the beautiful Whitehouse to capture both Laura and Nicki’s flowers and cakes.”

And from Laura: “The photo shoot was a three-way project, showcasing some of my floral designs as well as Sarah’s photography and Eat Sleep Cake’s wedding cakes. I only launched my business in late 2010 so this was the first opportunity to put some of my own ideas into production. I am also in the process of developing my website, so the pictures will be used on the site when it goes live later this month…

In terms of “inspiration” I was slightly hampered by the limited range of flowers that are available in the UK in the month of January! In general I try to create vibrant and unique arrangements which reflect the personality, history and passions of my clients. If marriage is about the ‘coming together of two people’s lives and loves’, then I passionately believe the flowers should reflect the story that they have to tell. When I meet with ‘prospective brides’, I ask them not just to think about colours and styles, but about flowers that have a specific relevance to them.

Obviously on this photo shoot there was not a client to work with, so I enjoyed the freedom and indulged some of my own floral passions. My vintage bowl arrangement is a nod to floral designs of the past with bright, vibrant flowers of the present day.”

This was so hard to edit down – so many strong and beautiful images – I love thecolours! Thanks so much for sharing xx
