High Society Bridal Catwalk Show

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the High Society Bridal Catwalk Show in Cowbridge. It was raining heavily, my hair was frizzy, my pixie boots were soaked through, but even the awful wintry weather couldn’t dampen my excitement…I was going to see pretty dresses!

Warmly greeted by a bubbly blonde (who I later discovered was Charlie – one of H.S Bridals lovely ‘twitterers’) with a welcomed glass of fizz and a goodie-bag crammed with…goodies, my wonderfully supportive fiance and I sat down to enjoy the show.

It was awesome! The models sasheyed down the ‘aisle’ to some rocking tunes, adding extra swagger to their catwalk run and thrusting us brides-to-be into the mindset that we too could nail that ‘look’!

Featuring new dresses from the SS11 collections of some of the most sought-after designers, including; Stephanie Allin, Sassi Holford, Alan Hannah and Jenny Packham – it soon became clear that 2011 is set to be the year of texture and embellishments. The wedding gowns featured the most incredible details, ruffles, rhinestones and even applique petals…oh-so-feminine and pretty!

There were some wedding dresses that really stood out; Eden by Jenny Packham actually drew a gasp from the audience, adorned with the most exquisite beading, it’s quite simply, stunning. Furthermore, the gorgeous model was grinning like the Cheshire Cat, so it’s clearly a dress that makes you feel magical.

I also adored Ms Packham’s new Cascade dress. So impactful, the movement of the tiered fabric, looks like a mermaid gliding through the sea!

Milly, by Stephanie Allin is so flattering, the sweetheart neckline and lace bodice create a feminine silhouette that Mad Men’s Joan would be proud of; whilst Sassi Holfords Fleur is so floaty and girly…perfect for relaxed country style. Alan Hannah’s Ashley is really unique and perfect for a vivacious bride, creating a 50’s theme.

After the show, the catwalk crowd were invited back to the swoon-worthy High Society store, to have a closer look at the gowns. I of course accepted and finally met my ‘tweeter’ peep Ruth, face-to-face (she’s even sweeter in person!) as well as witness the loveliness of the stunning bridal frocks.

Probably one of the most exciting wedding-related days I’ve had so far, I recommend any Bride-to-be attend at least one Bridal show. And for those thinking about making an appointment at High Society, Cowbridge – stop thinking – just book it. These ladies are in a wedding league of there own. So friendly, supportive and fun – I felt confident enough to try on my dream dress, even though I was sporting my ‘comfy undies’…

And did I find ‘the one’? Well, you’ll just have to wait and see…
