Flower Crown Bohemia ♥ Treasure the Dress ♥ Summer Love Photography Thu, 05 May 2011 05:00:09 +0000 Sarah

I literally squealed when I saw this submission for the wonderful Jo at Summer Love Photography- it’s everything I could hope for in a feature. Simple concept, yet so impactful – these images are so evokative of  the hazy summer days ahead…can’t you just smell it? How gorgeous is the lovely Lauren, how cute is that flower crown and how amazing is the colour palette…

From Jo “Lauren wanted a treasure the dress session as she never got to go to her prom at school, wear a prom dress and have that special moment – so the first half of the shoot was to do that. She wore a beautiful strapless pink dress and tiara so that she could have her moment but for the 2nd half (the pictures I’ve shared with you) she looked natural and like a beautiful fairy against this derelict church we found. The church is a 13th century ruin in Norfolk in a tiny village called Tilney cum Islington and is set in the middle of nowhere with a sense of peace around it. Its a real treasure and made the perfect backdrop for her pictures, a contrast between old and new. We had a surreal moment of realising we were having a mini picnic in a graveyard during a break of shooting! I wanted to capture Lauren looking free and relaxed using the natural stone to show off her dress and overall style.

With the stunning and striking Rape fields all over Norfolk at the moment, how could we resist not going to one, however when we got there, I’m not kidding the Rape Flower was taller than both of us! The day was perfect, beautiful sunlight, warm air, relaxed and lots of fun! Lauren was a dream to photograph, just so stunning with an ethereal beauty to her and yet so gracious and lovely to be around. I love how this has all come together and the styling works so well.”

From Lauren After the prom dress I really wanted to have some photo’s that suited my style of being relaxed, natural and earthy. The dress was an ebay find but I fell in love with it, floaty, loose and with bare feet would look simple but elegant. To finish off, the only accessory I wanted was to wear a flower crown so that when it all came together it had a bohemian feel. Before the photo session with Jo, I tried everything on and knew that it would look best with natural loose curls and simple make up. Sarah Taylor did the styling and make up for me and made a great job of pulling the whole look together. The aim for the pictures was for them to look natural, have a fairytale feel to them and something i could look back on and treasure. Simply – I love the pictures!”

I love, love, love the pictures too! Thanks so much for sharing,

With Love, Boho Bride xx

Stunning Seaside Engagement Shoot to Warm The Cockles of your Heart Mon, 31 Jan 2011 06:30:24 +0000 Sarah

It’s freeezing down here in Devon and although I love our beautiful beaches…I’m so happy to tucked up in our snug little cottage! With our stunning shores in mind, I thought I’d warm your cockles with this dreamy seaside engagement shoot, captured by the oh-so-lovely Norfolk  based photographer Katherine Ashdown. Here’s what Kathy had to say…

“This has to be one of my fave E shoots of the summer, gorgeous, fun couple – so obviously in love, woodland, beach, beach huts, blue skies, surf…and ice cream, perfect!

Louise and Chris decided to go to the beautiful Wells Beach to mirror the location Chris proposed (if slightly cooler)… Barbados! We had a fantastic time wandering on the beach on a stunning summers day, with every possible colour beach hut as the backdrop! Then we finished the shoot with the only possible way of finishing a beach shoot…with ice creams!”

I just love the natural styling of this shoot – simple and beautiful…and such a gorgeous couple too! Thanks so much for sharing Kathy xx

Victoria and Nat’s Norfolk Coast Engagement Shoot Thu, 25 Nov 2010 07:00:04 +0000 Sarah

It was a real treat to see this gorgeous engagment shoot pop up in my inbox the other day. The rain was torrential outside and yet, when I first glanced at these pictures I was immediately immersed in the beautiful surrounding of the Norfolk Coast.

I adore the way that Johanna Garlike of Summer Love Photography has captured the light. It makes me feel really calm, like she’s bottled up the essence of the coast on a crisp, wintry day. And what a beautiful couple…

“This is my first year of wedding photography after 3 years of location and portraits and i am falling in love with weddings more and more each time ive been lucky enough to photograph a couples happy and wonderful day!

I had completed lots of ‘couple’ portraits over the last few years but this was my first ‘official’ engagement shoot – i was sooo excited and especially so as they had requested for it to be at Hunstanton on the Norfolk Coast. One of my favourite places and a place i have been going to since a child on family day trips! Turns out it was also somewhere that Victoria and Nat came to both as children and now also as a couple.

Victoria and Nat currently live in Bedford but spend alot of time in Hunstanton and love its seaside charm. We all spoke passionatly about the vast beach, the beach huts, the sand dunes, the beautiful orange cliffs and finding starfish and crabs in the rock pools!

The original day to take the photographs – the weather was not on our side – torrential rain, grey clouds and freezing cold – luckily we all had the space to put it off until the next day and wow! what a good move – it was a beautiful October day, lovely blue skies, warm sunshine and a nice feel to the day.

Taking photographs of Victoria and Nat was a dream – it was so clear how much they adored each other – subtle little looks, holding hands, Nat brushing Victoria’s hair out of her eyes, smiles and sneaky kisses and cuddles! Sometimes it felt as though i was imposing on their own moments and that’s what I’ve aimed to capture with their engagement portrait.

Victoria & Nat are tying the knot in Lapland with close family and then plan to celebrate their wedding with their friends and family here in the UK - I am really looking forward and feel honoured to share and photograph their winter wedding celebrations in Bedford at the Swan Hotel - Fingers crossed for the white stuff!”
