Sibyl & Jon’s Shabby Chic Wedding…With Medieval Archers!

Today’s offering is extra special, as it’s the first ‘real wedding’ to be featured on Boho Bride! The past three weeks have been as rewarding they have been hard, grafting away in hope of  making this wedding blog a success;  so on Friday, when I received an email from Kate Fletcher, offering me these beautiful images to feature on my ‘stylish’ site…I knew all my hard work had all been worth-while.

Kate runs the successful wedding and event’s company, Kate Fletcher Events and can count TV presenter Jimmy Doherty (of Jimmy’s Farm fame) amongst her happy clients.

The wedding I’m about to show you belongs to Sibyl and Jon, who got married on the 3rd of July this year. Kate submitted this wedding following my appeal to feature and celebrate the growing trend for relaxed, and stylish shabby chic weddings…and I’m sure you’ll agree, this wedding is ‘shabby chic’ personified.

Some words from Kate…“Sibyl and Jon are two Architects and such a great couple…and Sibyl was the most laid back bride I have ever met…

They got married at the local church by family friend, Rev James McKeran and arrived by tractor through the cornfields to Sibyl’s parents house for a drinks reception in the orchard.

Jon was particular interested in Robin Hood, so I suggested they had medieval archers as an alternative to garden games. This was a great hit, especially with the many children attending the wedding! A folk band played while the guests enjoyed glasses of Prosecco and Elderflower Presse and Bruschetta’s served on vintage platters.

They had a Hog Roast for the wedding breakfast which was visibly cooked over charcoal and served on platters with apples and seasonal herbs. After the meal, they had Damson Vodka for the toast that Sibyl and Jon had made themselves.

Later in the evening, a fire pit was lit and guests danced the night away and drank from tankards they filled themselves from large kegs”.

I adore this wedding and I put that down to how personal it is.  Taking her inspiration from Sibyl and Jon’s characters and tastes, Kate has created a wedding that’s brimming with individual details which makes this day as unique as they are. A celebration that truly represents this creative, laid-back couple!

There are so many incredible ideas to evoke your creative juices…the fire pit, goblets, herb centrepieces…and let’s not forget the archer! I cannot fail to be excited by this wedding. So a huge thank-you to Kate Fletcher for sending this my way – and to photographer Gareth Davies for his stunning images.
