Bespoke Mood Board – Modern and Elegant with a Lime Green Accent

When uber talented photographer Stormy Sloane wrote a shout-out on twitter for some wedding style ideas for her dear friend Kirsten, I jumped at the chance to have a go! The initial brief  from Stormy, “Her wedding will be in Idaho, America (think rural, proper cowboys and Indians territory!) in July. She hasn’t chosen a venue yet, but is considering an outdoor wedding. Her colors are black, white, and lime green.”

Kirsten’s brief: “For my wedding I want the main colors to be black and white with an accent of Lime Green, and I also really like the damask print. I love modern decor and I want the overall feel of my wedding to be modern and elegant but still fun. I love the look of Chandeliers and I also really love modern art type things like branches painted black as centerpieces with candles and diamonds hanging from them. I want it to be big and make a statement that people will remember. As far as flowers go, I love green Orchids and white Calla Lilies and white Stephanotis. I really like things to be symmetrical but I also like a little asymmetry too. I really want things to look elegant and simple but at the same time be fun and have some surprise.”

Such a fun brief to work on, when Kirsten mentioned elegance with the black and white colourway, I immediately thought of My Fair Lady and Liza Doolittle’s impactful striped dress! I wanted to include rustic elements in homage to Ohio and it’s beautiful landscape…but also featured chic and elegant details that you wouldn’t normally associate with an outdoor wedding – thus bringing in ‘fun’ and playful elements. And for the green accents? Apples and limes! In a destination like Ohio work with what nature gives you!

I love this mood board. It is so cute and I love all the little elements. Thank you so much. It is very inspiring and gives me so much more direction in how to pull off the wedding I have been dreaming about since I was a little girl.

My pleasure Kirsten – thanks so much for the lovely comment. Loved hearing your ideas and having researched weddings in the Ohio area this week, I’m sure the colourways and elegant style that your after, will look stunning against the beautiful surrounding area. All the best with your plans! xx
