Mad Hatter’s Photo Shoot – Styled Shoot for The Millbrook Estate

Today I have the pleasure of unveiling the photo shoot I styled for The Millbrook Estate, in collaboration with Lucy Shergold Photography. As I said in yesterdays post this all came about when we met the lovely Kate and Bob Boothby, who own Millbrook and decided to create a shoot that showed off their beautiful and quirky grounds…and so Bob came up with the Mad Hatter’s theme, as it meant we could incorporate some of the estate’s more unusual features – and have some fun! You can see the inspiration board here

A great excuse to meet and work with some very talented local suppliers; Lucy and I were introduced by the Boothby’s to the lovely Leisa of Devon Catering, who supplied the pretty (and very tasty) cupcakes and we also took the opportunity to invite Sarah Bayley of Two Green Monkeys, who came on board to show off some of her gorgeous crafts, as well as uber talented florist Allene Daly and the wonderful hair stylist Claire Mathers of Creative Wedding Hair, both of whom I’ve booked for my own wedding!

We decided that this shoot should be about how couples can best use the venue for their wedding day, the look needed to be inspirational yet attainable…that was our priority and so we chose not to borrow any wedding gowns or jewellery – instead our aim was to show off how to use the space, inspired by the surroundings…

I wanted the styling to look a bit hap-hazard. Chaotic, like the Mad Hatter. Not too polished, but kookie and above all – fun!

Lucy’s gorgeous sister Alice was brought on board to model as our Bride with a hint of ‘Queen of Hearts’ whilst Sarah kindly brought along her darling daughter Ostara to be our ‘Alice’.

All of the accessories were supplied by either Lucy and I or those mentioned above, though I did also ask Nikki of Knots and Kisses Wedding Stationery to loan us some samples from her beautiful and aptly named ‘Wonderland’ collection as I knew they’d compliment the styling perfectly…and they did! I love Nikki’s work.

The whole shoot was definitely a collaborative effort – with Lucy and I bouncing ideas off each other, madly emailing in the wee hours and both bringing car-loads of goodies, whilst everyone else involved not only devoted their time and talents, but brought so many ideas too. It was a magical day and I’m so proud of the results!

A big thank you to all involved!!! With so much love, Boho Bride xxx

I love the big red bow/train on the dress. I wonder if I can replicate it in yellow for my own dress?!

    Wonderful shoot.

Wow awesome chicken clock – where can I get one?! Also a mad hatter groom would have been cool.

Why thank you. There’s was an androgynous Mad Hatter – but I left those pics out! x
