Flower Crown Bohemia ♥ Treasure the Dress ♥ Summer Love Photography http://www.bohobride.co.uk/treasure-the-dress/flower-crown-bohemia-%e2%99%a5-treasure-the-dress-%e2%99%a5-summer-love-photography.html http://www.bohobride.co.uk/treasure-the-dress/flower-crown-bohemia-%e2%99%a5-treasure-the-dress-%e2%99%a5-summer-love-photography.html#comments Thu, 05 May 2011 05:00:09 +0000 http://www.bohobride.co.uk/?p=2639

I literally squealed when I saw this submission for the wonderful Jo at Summer Love Photography- it’s everything I could hope for in a feature. Simple concept, yet so impactful – these images are so evokative of  the hazy summer days ahead…can’t you just smell it? How gorgeous is the lovely Lauren, how cute is that flower crown and how amazing is the colour palette…

From Jo “Lauren wanted a treasure the dress session as she never got to go to her prom at school, wear a prom dress and have that special moment – so the first half of the shoot was to do that. She wore a beautiful strapless pink dress and tiara so that she could have her moment but for the 2nd half (the pictures I’ve shared with you) she looked natural and like a beautiful fairy against this derelict church we found. The church is a 13th century ruin in Norfolk in a tiny village called Tilney cum Islington and is set in the middle of nowhere with a sense of peace around it. Its a real treasure and made the perfect backdrop for her pictures, a contrast between old and new. We had a surreal moment of realising we were having a mini picnic in a graveyard during a break of shooting! I wanted to capture Lauren looking free and relaxed using the natural stone to show off her dress and overall style.

With the stunning and striking Rape fields all over Norfolk at the moment, how could we resist not going to one, however when we got there, I’m not kidding the Rape Flower was taller than both of us! The day was perfect, beautiful sunlight, warm air, relaxed and lots of fun! Lauren was a dream to photograph, just so stunning with an ethereal beauty to her and yet so gracious and lovely to be around. I love how this has all come together and the styling works so well.”

From Lauren After the prom dress I really wanted to have some photo’s that suited my style of being relaxed, natural and earthy. The dress was an ebay find but I fell in love with it, floaty, loose and with bare feet would look simple but elegant. To finish off, the only accessory I wanted was to wear a flower crown so that when it all came together it had a bohemian feel. Before the photo session with Jo, I tried everything on and knew that it would look best with natural loose curls and simple make up. Sarah Taylor did the styling and make up for me and made a great job of pulling the whole look together. The aim for the pictures was for them to look natural, have a fairytale feel to them and something i could look back on and treasure. Simply – I love the pictures!”

I love, love, love the pictures too! Thanks so much for sharing,

With Love, Boho Bride xx

Treasure The Dress – Eliza Claire Photography http://www.bohobride.co.uk/treasure-the-dress/treasure-the-dress-eliza-claire-photography.html http://www.bohobride.co.uk/treasure-the-dress/treasure-the-dress-eliza-claire-photography.html#comments Thu, 30 Dec 2010 11:48:07 +0000 http://www.bohobride.co.uk/?p=1224

Today’s offering features two hugely talented photographers – with a twist - as one of them is in front of the lens! The lovely Eliza Claire Photography sent me these stunning images of friend and fellow tog Lisa Fellows ‘Treasure The Dress’ session in Gloucestershire.

Featuring a backdrop that’s almost as impactful as Lisa’s dramatic dress (Eliza mentioned it has a look of Wuthering Heights and I totally agree!), I thought it was the perfect session to feature at this cold, crisp time of year.

Eliza Claire is another great contact that I’ve made via Twitter and not only is her informal, natural style right up my street, but I was happy to discover that she also covers weddings at my end of the world! A former resident of Cornwall, Eliza also offers her services to us West Country brides! Check out her blog to see more of her fabulous work.

“Lisa is a wedding photographer in Gloucestershire, but more than that, Lisa is a friend. I’ve known Lisa for about 4 years, way before either of us got into this wedding photography malarky. She is one of the kindest people I know, and one of my closest friends. I completely adore her…

Lisa never got to wear this gorgeous dress on her wedding day – a few mistakes by the dressmaker meant that she wasn’t happy with it. However, for a Treasure the Dress, it’s just perfect, and shows off Lisa’s alternative style, and her stunning figure – look at that waist!”

Lisa adds…“It made a nice change being on the other side of the camera. It was good fun and nice to have an opportunity to finally wear the dress. Liz was clear in her direction and very easy going – great to work with. It’s an experience I’d recommend to anyone!”

Thanks so much to Eliza for sharing this gorgeous shoot and to beautiful bride Lisa. I hope to see more collaborations and work from you both! x

Treasure The Dress – Lucy Shergold Reminisces http://www.bohobride.co.uk/treasure-the-dress/treasure-the-dress-lucy-shergold-reminisces.html http://www.bohobride.co.uk/treasure-the-dress/treasure-the-dress-lucy-shergold-reminisces.html#comments Tue, 28 Dec 2010 11:47:39 +0000 http://www.bohobride.co.uk/?p=1196

I have found a wonderful friend in photographer Lucy Shergold (even if it is via email!) and was so touched to receive these gorgeous images on her 7th wedding anniversary. Lucy dug out her wedding dress out for a nostalgic peek…and fell in love with it all over again.

With the world awash with gifts and sentiment at this special time of year, it seems quite apt to show off the photographes of a much loved frock – and it has the most beautiful story behind it…

“I got my dress out and had forgotten how much I love it.  It came to me that I have never photographed my dress myself so couldn’t resist!

My best friend made my dress, when I started looking, the whole lovely Vintage Wedding style wasn’t really around and after a couple of unsuccessful trips to Bridal shops, my lovely friend Laura - who had just finished her fashion degree – said it would be an honour to make one for me and I was over the moon.

We went on a fab girly trip to London where she suggested I forgot about style and chose the fabrics that I loved the most. So it was an antique dull pink silk and beaded lace flowers with a cream soft fabric. She then made designs, of which I have framed, and she made me my perfect dress, well skirt and top!

I guess I was lucky to have such a talented and special girl friend and she did have some sleepless nights, but I still love it as much today which is priceless to me…

What a way to spend a day…”

Seems like such an appropriate way for a photographer to ‘treasure the dress’…take some stunning pics of it! Thanks so much Lucy x
