Modern Bride

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending Modern Bride. Billed as a ‘contemporary wedding show’, I was unsure as to whether it would be my cup of tea, but was pleasantly surprised. I guess the description of ‘contemporary’ shouldn’t be taken literally, as the exhibitors showing, aptly represented our modern attitude to weddings rather than simply displaying modern ‘goods’.

My first port of call was Madeline Isaac-James to have a peek at the new collection of wedding gowns I recently blogged about. In the flesh, these dresses are even more beautiful, with the graceful Claudia being my firm favourite…

I then sat down to watch the catwalk show, featuring beautiful gowns from the likes of Alan Hannah, Charlotte Balbier and Ritva and Chenca Design amongst others. Surprise of the show for me, was the stunning Eve gown from High Street store Phase Eight. Flattering and feminine, it costs a mere £350 and easily looks like a designer dress…

Other stand-out wedding gowns were Benjamin Roberts 50′s inspired Danbury Dress, Naomi Neoh’s graceful Dita and the Kirsten from Mia Mia.

The standard of the photographers were awesome, with most showing off the informal documentory styles we’ve all come to favour. I loved seeing the contemporary wedding albums up close and personal, with talented photographers Matt Tyler, Matt Pereira and Pearl Pictures really turning my head!

I also feel compelled to mention Dottie Photography and their incredible Pinup Shoots (so Mad Men!) and The Wonderwall Print Company, who create fun and impactful collages of your wedding pictures.

For stationary, the bold and quirky should head to Dotty Creations and for those who adore vintage inspired and classic designs, Ivy Ellen is a must, with the Vintage Floral design winning my heart!

A smaller show than I anticipated, this actually worked in favour of the exhibitors and visitors of Modern Bride; I had the chance to have a good nose at everything on offer and the opportunity to really chat to those who’s stands caught my eye.
