Flowers, Cake, Shoes…And Some Stunning Pictures!

When I spotted this stunning shoot on South Devon photographer Sarah Laurens blog, I felt compelled to find out more about the talented ladies who made it happen and was so pleased when Sarah offered me the images to feature on Boho Bride. So what’s the part of writing my blog that I love the most? Sharing inspiration like this…

What Sarah had to say: “Laura Hingston asked me to photograph her flowers for her new website and here are the results.  She has an amazing talent and I recommend her to all the brides I meet – not just for her creative flair but for her way with words too – her enthusiasm is infectious. I also met Nicki of Eat Sleep Cake at a wedding fair last year and she also happens to know Laura (it’s a small world in Devon!)…I organized the shoot at the beautiful Whitehouse to capture both Laura and Nicki’s flowers and cakes.”

And from Laura: “The photo shoot was a three-way project, showcasing some of my floral designs as well as Sarah’s photography and Eat Sleep Cake’s wedding cakes. I only launched my business in late 2010 so this was the first opportunity to put some of my own ideas into production. I am also in the process of developing my website, so the pictures will be used on the site when it goes live later this month…

Bespoke Mood Board – Modern and Elegant with a Lime Green Accent

When uber talented photographer Stormy Sloane wrote a shout-out on twitter for some wedding style ideas for her dear friend Kirsten, I jumped at the chance to have a go! The initial brief  from Stormy, “Her wedding will be in Idaho, America (think rural, proper cowboys and Indians territory!) in July. She hasn’t chosen a venue yet, but is considering an outdoor wedding. Her colors are black, white, and lime green.”

Lantern Love – Chinese Sky Lanterns

February 8, 2011 by

One of the few suggestions my man has made towards our wedding is his desire for sky lanterns. An lighting obsessive (ambiance is a big deal for him), it’s his one big ‘quirk’ and I’d really like to honour his request to use them…especially as he sweetly suggested that we each write a wish to send into the nights sky – how cute is that?!

A seriously stylish statement, I am however, concerned about any negative impact these Chinese sky lanterns might have on local wildlife. I’d hate to think that we’d used anything on our wedding day that would somehow cause upset – or worse still – amongst our local livestock. So I’ve been searching for companies who supply eco-friendly and fully bio-degrabable sky lanterns, all of which I’ve listed below. For me, the subject is still up for debate – I’d like to do more re-search before we commit to this idea…

What do you think?

Designed and handmade by Nikki Ward, a trained fashion illustrator turned wedding stationer – with an impeccable eye for wedding design, this latest range was inspired by her love of all things vintage. This is my second request for a bespoke mood board and as a Bride-to-be in the midst of planning, I understand how frustrating it is when you can’t get others to understand your ‘vision’. Sometimes there’s just no words that’ll do the job and that’s where an inspiration board comes in handy!

Ruth, who works at Cowbridge wedding boutique High Society, actually helped me find my dream wedding gown! It is therefore such an honour to assist her in finding the right ‘look’ for her November celebration…

The brief Ruth sent me…

The wedding cake has always been a big deal for me. I ♥ cake. Way more than chocolate bars, jam and even yellow mini eggs…though if there’s a way of combining all the aforementioned I’m in! There is no way we (my man’s a big cake man too) could cope having just with one wedding cake to define our tastes…so we’re having a whole table full! And here’s our inspiration…
