Black Swan Mood Board

Today’s board is inspired by the award winning Black Swan which I’m so excited to see this weekend. My childhood was spent in a tutu and I still carry a torch for this beautiful dance form, some twenty years later. A ballet inspired wedding is perfect for a whimsical Bride…think texture…ruffles, soft layers and effervescent fabrics meets structured, disciplined form. A sophisticated palette of muted pinks and greys…

Some of the wedding decor we’re sure to have on our day is hay bales! Well, I am a country girl after all…

I doubt we’ll be using them at the ceremony, but there’ s going to be a chill out area or two…so hay bales are ideal for guests to take a pew on! One of the wonderful ideas I’ve seen on many an American blog, is vintage blankets strewn across them…perfect for those in a dress to prop on and they can double as a warming cover-up for chilly shoulders! Here’s some inspiration…

As I’m now right in the thick of our wedding plans, I’ve been on the hunt for inspiration to show my bridesmaids and with all of my ‘entourage’  in different counties (and countries!) sending lots of pictures via email has been an invaluable tool!

I’m sure my girls well-and-truly get the ‘vision’but I thought it might be nice to share a little with you. I’m talking about mismatched bridesmaid dresses and the little bit of rule-breaking so many modern Brides are now indulging in. We’re all different shapes, sizes, skin-tones - so why not celebrate that fact and let every Maid dress to maximise their assets!

I love each of my girls for very different reasons and I want to celebrate their individuality and show off their style.  I salute the mismatched frock! How about you?

It’s always lovely to receive emails from suppliers of all things pretty – but even nicer when you know they’re just starting out and are already doing very well! Creator of Occasional Elegance, Sarah, created her business after an inspired moment…

“I was sat drinking a Starbucks coffee I was thinking to myself how hard it can sometimes be to find accessories that are that ’wee bit different, that can’t be found on the high street…so that’s where the idea of Occasional Elegance came from.” Stocking beautiful pieces that are predominantly hand made, Sarah offers individual, quirky and elegant designs, perfect for a forward thinking Bride.
