Royal Wedding Inspired Mood Board

Following the announcement of William and Catherine’s engagement, I thought it only apt to create the a wedding mood board. Sadly, I know they won’t be approaching me to style their day…but if they did….it would probably look like this….

A modern royal couple, with contemporary taste, I’d love to see them channel the ‘cool Brittania’ vibe!

This morning it was announced that Prince William and Kate Middleton were to marry and as to be expected, the news is awash with speculation on where, when and more importantly who will be involved. Spring or Summer? Small or large? And who will design the dress?

The Prime Minister has been quoted as saying that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s engagement is “a great day for the country” so what does this very modern royal wedding mean for us citizens?

The Right Note – Musical Wedding Decor

Yesterday’s real wedding, featuring Bride Carley and Groom Ian showing off their love for music on their wedding day, inspired me to go in search of musical wedding decor.

If you’re a musical couple getting wed, why not introduce it into your day? It could be as simple as a G-Clef stamp on the back of an invitation envelope, or as thoughtful as a retro inspired ‘mix tape’ for favours. Here’s some of the music inspired decor I found…

Relaxed Country Wedding, with a Musical Bride and Groom

These beautiful images come courtesy of Essex based photographer Hayley Ruth, who’s natural documentary style has perfectly captured this relaxed Bride and Groom. As soon as I saw the picture of Bride Carley, peeking out the window of her parents chocolate box home, I knew they were going to be special.

Here’s a couple who have really celebrated what I believe makes a wedding extra special - themselves…and in this case, their shared love of music and the historical and characterful pub where they first met…

Sunday Best – Boho Beach Wedding

This week’s highlight for me, was receiving the stunning image of Kat and Ben’s Dali inspired arbor. It really captured a sense of beach wedding bohemia, as they weren’t scared of making a strong and beautiful statement…making up their own rules, to create a day that truly reflected their relationship and identity.

Seaside Mood Board

Sticking with the beach vibe, I created a board to correspond with the kind of seaside wedding we could enjoy on our Great British shores. I love colourful weddings and if I could jump into this mood board right now and get married in it – I would.

My Coastal Proposal

Inspired by the gorgeous beachfront wedding I featured yesterday, it seems quite apt to share with you the story of our engagement and my beloveds beautiful coastal proposal…

Above the beautiful sands of Croyde in Devon sits a bench at a spot called Baggy Point. This bench has been part of my life for many years. I used to sit on it with my grandparents as a child. I used to live in Hong Kong and the coastline of my mothers native Devon mesmerised me…it was so striking, lush and peaceful and I always felt so safe there…

And once my family had moved to Devon, my Summers were still spent along this part of coastline, as it was the perfect spot for us teenage girls to gawp at surfers! So it was the most obvious choice of a weekend break when my 19 year old self was intoducing her new boyfriend to the sights of my local area…after all, I wasn’t ready to thrust my ‘Ma Larkin’ mother upon him just yet!

Adam fell in love with Baggy Point before he fell for me, but as our love grew, so did our love for the rickety bench and it’s view across the sea. We’d always stop and sit on our bench en route to my parents…it’s our little haven, the place we go to defibrillate…so it seemed very appropriate that Adam should insist on stopping there on our way to visit my folks for new years eve…

Kat and Ben’s Bohemian Beachfront Wedding

I’d like to keep my intro brief as Kat and Ben’s wedding has been so perfectly described by Chad Michael Peters, who is not only responsible for the wedding planning and design, but created the beautiful floral arrangements and captured the stunning images you’re about to see below.

When Bethany from Chad Michael Peters got in touch with me last week, I was so flattered to be offered this wedding for Boho Bride…and once I’d found out a little more about the incredible, creative company that Bethany represented – I felt truly honoured.

And so, without further ado, I hand you over to Chad M Peters…

Modern Bride

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending Modern Bride. Billed as a ‘contemporary wedding show’, I was unsure as to whether it would be my cup of tea, but was pleasantly surprised. I guess the description of ‘contemporary’ shouldn’t be taken literally, as the exhibitors showing, aptly represented our modern attitude to weddings rather than simply displaying modern ‘goods’.

My first port of call was Madeline Isaac-James to have a peek at the new collection of wedding gowns I recently blogged about. In the flesh, these dresses are even more beautiful, with the graceful Claudia being my firm favourite…

I then sat down to watch the catwalk show, featuring beautiful gowns from the likes of Alan Hannah, Charlotte Balbier and Ritva and Chenca Design amongst others. Surprise of the show for me, was the stunning Eve gown from High Street store Phase Eight. Flattering and feminine, it costs a mere £350 and easily looks like a designer dress…

Other stand-out wedding gowns were Benjamin Roberts 50′s inspired Danbury Dress, Naomi Neoh’s graceful Dita and the Kirsten from Mia Mia.
